EDUCATION

At The Emancipacition Project our motto  is “Empowering Children out of the Shackles of Poverty” we see education as the way of doing this.

We have begun that work in the Dominican Republic by partnering with three backyard schools and providing the students and the teachers with the resources they need for a successful school year.
  • BACKYARD SCHOOLS

$10 - Will provide a child with school supplies for the school year

    $20 - Will provide a child with a uniform and a backpack

$50 - Will provide a child with a uniform, shoes, backpack and all of the school supplies for one year.

Our goal is to enable change in the lives of children so that they may leave a legacy for future generations.

Providing resources for better living conditions:

Access to medical care and resources.
Provide resources for early, middle and higher education
Nutritious food and care from early years to young adulthood

Hope for a future, transforming children's lives:

Opportunities to develop and learn through play and exploration
Strong relationships with caring adults.
Safe, loving, nurturing home like environment

Facilitating the move out of poverty into a life full of possibilities:

Access to programs that will support and encourage entrepreneurship
Advocacy for children’s rights of children.

PROVIDING THESE

CHILDREN WITH WHAT THEY

NEED FOR THEIR EDUCATION

Reports from the World Bank state that the school system remains one of the least effective in Latin America and the Caribbean.

About 8% of young people age 15 to 24 are illiterate. Census data from 2002 indicates 762,000 young people between 15-29, about 33% of the population, had not completed basic education.

Some 913,000 of 20-29 year-old (~62%) had not finished secondary school.  Many drop out of school at age 12 or 13 because they need to earn money for their families.
